With the release of the No One Will Hear This EP, Robin & Robin brings a new feel to a clashing of genres. Lush natural and digital instrumentation, an edgy hip hop vocal approach , and strong pop elements throughout, the record boasts the aesthetic of indie pop anthems. Though the songs are diverse from one another, there is a glue that holds it all together much like a concept album would. Most importantly, the record never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from.
The first single, “Nervous”, is an instant alternative pop classic, complete with a bopping rhythm, synth hooks, and vocals that grow in intensity, the song seems to breathe and build as it plays on.
“The song is called Nervous because it is the only word that I was able to describe the way I was feeling when I wrote it. I thought if I was able to call these feeling something, anything I would be able to fight it more. I put a lot of pressure on myself to maintain this image that I have of myself in my head. I want to be perfect I want to be flawless, but I’m not. I also have it engraved in my mind that everyone around me expects so much from me. And when I fail to live up to the standards of those around me it just hurts, sometimes I just feel like I’m not who I want to be and I have no control of my life.” explains songwriter Ryan Reilly of his single.
Although the single does speak volumes for the EP, to get a real understanding of where Robin & Robin is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.
“This started my sound. Once I started playing the lead synth for the post chorus or dance break of the song, I knew this is the vibe I am going for. Also, the backing vocals.” says Reilly of the EP.
Robin & Robin was a project started in the summer of 2016 when songwriter Ryan Reilly decided he wanted to put a band together. He began recording songs written, produced and performed by himself and ended up churning out something unique. Without trying to do it, he became a solo artist and decided to see where it went from there. The No One Will Hear This EP is the epitome of where he is at with his sound right now.
No One Will Hear This is now available for streaming and downloads on most major digital outlets and the songwriter continues to work on new material for upcoming releases as he books gigs.
